In this version, the player returns to the same kiosk with the same granny seller, but with new features and more mini-games. In this game, the player can play six different games and interact with new elements in the kiosk, such as a lamp or a loaf of bread. When you click on them, the granny says something interesting about the item.

My next game was similar, but now the levels scroll both horizontally and vertically, the tiles were larger, and there were more frames for animations. To complete the game, you need to finish eight levels and defeat the boss. In all my previous games, the sounds were simple beeps from the PC speaker. Starting with this game, I began experimenting with more complex audio!

By this time, I already had experience with sprites and collision detection, so my next challenge was to create a Mario-like game. In this game, you can defeat enemies either by throwing axes or jumping on their heads. However, the game is quite difficult and long — I think I might be the only one who completed it! There are a total of eight episodes, each containing three levels and a simple boss.

Programming language: Turbo Pascal Operating system: DOS Language: English I started working on this game before the release of Crazy Loto. However, because the game was planned to include a large amount of graphics, I postponed its development several times. In this game, you can choose one of three playable characters: a fly, a bug, or a water bug. Each insect has a different speed and its own set of levels. There are eight levels for each insect, featuring different types of bosses — a snake, a bumblebee, and finally, a frog.

Programming language: Delphi Operating system: Windows Language: Russian When Delphi came into my hands, the first thing I wanted to do was to create something for Windows. My next challenge was The Nailed Fly with sound and music. As in the previous parts, the player controls the crazy fly and avoids obstacles (which were changed to bugs). At the end of the game, the player faces a boss — an ugly frog.

The player can choose one of six vehicles and play through any of 50 levels. Basically, this is the second game in which I implemented AI to create interesting behavior for CPU-controlled tanks.

The main task was to create a simple game algorithm (in text mode) where the player enters six numbers, which are then compared with six randomly generated numbers. As before, I disliked making such a boring game. So instead, I designed the game as a small scene: a kiosk where the player can buy tickets and choose numbers. After that, the player watches the results on TV. The kiosk is run by a seller (a granny). Additionally, the player can play darts.

Programming language: Turbo Pascal Operating system: DOS Language: Russian This game completely changed the way I thought about game development. In my previous games, everything was drawn using simple colored lines. Starting with this project, I switched the graphics resolution to 320×200 with 256 colors (using assembler methods). This allowed me to start drawing sprites. As in the previous version of the game, you control a nailed fly. However, now you can shoot small worms and collect extra lives. To complete the game, you need to destroy obstacles, and once you collect 100 points, a boss appears!

Later, I added the ability to control this “crazy point” using the keyboard arrow keys. To me, it looked like a naughty fly. To make the game more interesting, I added randomly shaped obstacles that fall down and hit the fly. This game became my first project featuring a sprite-based character and collision detection.

Programming language: Turbo Pascal Operating system: DOS Language: English This game was created as part of a Latvian challenge (I don’t remember the exact details, but my school teacher asked me to do it). The task was to implement a game with a 10×10 field where two players mark cells using two different colors. For me, this was my first AI implementation 🙂 I could have made this game as a simple application without any graphics, but I didn’t want to keep it that basic. Instead, I designed a graphical interface and enhanced the game with some animations.

I improved the previously created game, “Ocean.” I replaced all the graphics with new ones and added three difficulty levels. In this game, a giant spider guards mine treasures, and miners try to steal them.
